A feather added

Thats a long time plan for me to get the Microsoft certification done for SQL server 2000. It started in Jan of this year and never ended till Dec 12th, the day i claimed my Certi.

There were oscillations in preparations, many times dropped due to work & ofcourse laziness. Either you need a self motivation or atleast someone to motivate and encourage you for these kind of stuffs.

For me, i have a very bad "Self-Motivation" mind and so, many pending works :) But somehow i realised its gonna be late if i didn't do now, as SQL server 2005 - the powerful version of MS database got released.

However i am not so happy to say iam a MCP. I donno y ?!@#$%^&*()...

A beautiful trip

It all started with a proper plan for a bike trip to SriSailam. Myself & Mouly gathered all possible information for the trip and found that its a risk to travel through GHAT roads after sunset. So the plan for a bike trip to Srisailam was changed at the last moment to Nagarjuna Sagar which is just 160 kms from hyderabad (when compared to 220 kms of SriSailam) and is void of ghat roads

The agenda was to start from home @ 5:30 AM and to travel @ the max for 5 hours with intermittent breaks to reach Nagajuna Sagar by 11 AM. But the first step of getting up early @ 5:30 itself made the trip doubtful, as my roomies are well aware of my wake-up time :)

Somehow we got up (including me) and started from home @ 5:50 (with the usual delay of Indians:). Three Bikes : Bajaj Pulsar 150, 180 & Splendour burned their fuel towards the dam.Only one guy knows the path (Mouly) that too only one information i.e Sagar road will lead to Nagarjuna Sagar dam. But how to catch the Sagar road? We inquired the joggers, autowalas, rounding the hyderabad and atlast got the Sagar road @7:30

Our great bike journey started then, it was a single road stretching for about 150 kms to the dam. We rided our bikes to reach the top speed of 100 kmph... and on an average - 70 Kmph

VK's destination

It was a great trip except with a small skid for Mugunthan with Splendour. On reaching the dam, we gone for a boat ride to an island Museum. We were almost exhausted that we didn't visit the museum, instead took a small nap beneath the trees

The return was more thrill coz it was almost sunset and the dark was spreading. We are 100 km far from Hyderabad, also the Splendour didn't light up. So Muruga with his Pulsar 180cc lead the team followed by Mouly with the Splendour in the middle and myself @ the back with Pulsar 150cc. The idea is to provide light to Mouly and so we were travelling at a constant speed. Its like an Ant row, we have crossed 100 kms with an avg speed of 50 kmph

It was a fusion of excitement, thrill & risk we experienced from the great bike trip.
The total kms we have travelled on the single day reached abt 400 kms (to: 197 & fro: 195)

Great isn't it?

is that my lyrics ?

It was about one year, when i wrote the tamil lyrics for my friend who was about to develop a musical Album. I don't know his whereabouts now, but i got the song from Jack(MK)

The music was too good, perfectly flowing with my lyrics. Very happy to hear it :)
THANKS JACK

This is not the first time i am hearing my lyrics, i have already written one for Jack but i lost the song due to my system crash. It was a nice experience and a lovely moment working with musical guys. Though i do not have slightest knowledge of music i learnt how to create it with softies like Goldwave, ACID express...

The funda is that i quoted working on musical softies as one of my hobbies during the TCS campus interview which made a good impression.

It was a long time, i stopped using those softies & writing tamil lyrics. I don't know why? may be i will regain the interest sometimes later...

The Lesson

Everytime when i plan my trip to home, it would turn up into a peaceful, enjoyable and a recharging one. Even this time i expected it, but something in me warned i am gonna lose something.

To start, the plan of buying a bike had to wait two days and was about to be dropped @ the last moment. The absence of bucks on the day i scheduled to buy, affected my piece of mind from the day before itself.

Two other reasons also made me to think buying it and at one point, I got into extreme frustration of everything going wrong, (though i got the money in my account) I asked my parents to stop the plan.

"When you desire on something, the whole world will help you in conquering it" - the words from 'The Alchemist', i read in my train journey towards my home, came to mind. I just laughed irritatingly

My parents were surprised on my frustration mixed with anger and i heard that it was the first time my cousin is seeing me in that stage.

After all, a small desire shaken my patience :(

Oh Sania :(

I never seen her playing tennis. But the hype given by the Media and the fact that she won three rounds in US open sounds as if she is capable of facing the no.1 star Sharapova and can even put up a great pressure

Until today morning 12:30 (midnight), even i thought the same...

We (myself & my roomies) were playing '5 Cards game' (another interesting one to write abt) just to pass time till 11:30 to watch Sania match, but unfortunately it was 12:30, due to delay in Hewitt match

It all started... and the real picture of her is revealed
From my point of view she is very poor in Serving, making the most 'unforced errors', losing the advantage of BreakPoints. In short totally lacking the skills for a top player, but i hope she can gain some by experience

Though its good to reach 4th round, she is far behind the skills of top players
Let me not waste more time on her as i did a lot last night.

Lazy Weekend

That was a lazy, weak & boring weekend. I got up @ early morning 11:30 :) on Saturday, did nothing other than having my lunch

Planned to go to Office but Something stopped me and inturn i stopped Muruga from going to office :) We watched TV the entire day- Ashes Series & Bala's Sedhu were the prime spots

Sunday too has the same show.We slept even in the afternoon.
Ashes nail biting victory for England turned to be a good one, other one is Director Ameer's speech

Mounam Pesiyathe, Raam - the two tamil films which quietly speaks his interest in Good Cinema and not the Masala ones.

He wished to join hands with Cheran, Bala ... and i hope his next film 'Paruthi Veeran' also do the same. A director to be noted...

I thought of posting this yesterday, but since the weekend had an adverse effect on my weekdays too I was delayed :)

Tour of Hyderabad

I came here last Sep. but i didn't get enough time to visit the hotspots of hyd.
It was the independece leave we chose to trip around hyd along with cse gang.

Durai was making the entire show a lovely humourous one, Gobu assisting him with his
digicam :)

The Snow World turned red hot when we are in.
The Golconda got fortified with our visit
The Secret lake disappeared 'w/o lights'
The Ramoji Film City started recruiting us on our look
The IMAX 3D took us into the Screen
at last The Hyderabad Central robbed our money from the card

don't ask me what's u r bank balance?
though i am emptied, my dreams are filled with Hyd trip :)

Nothing can be gained without a loss, not even the dreams...

The elixir song

The only song that smashed a century in my ears and heart.
Its a song from "Azhagiye Theeyae", a tamil film (hope atleast a few knew abt the film)

With a melody music, the "Vizhigalin aruginil vaanam" narrates the changes u face when in love with a girl

It doesn't praises the girl instead touches sweetfully the changes in you (to be noted)
So lovely lyrics it has, making me to hear it in continuous loop.
Such a buzzy song, worthy to hear if u have time :)

And the latest buzz to the list is "Uyire en uyire" from Thotti jaya, another melody track that attracted my ears & ofcourse my mind & heart together.

the catchy lyrics of
"Engaeyo un mugam naan paartha niyabagam
Eppotho unnudan naan vaazhntha niyabagam"
really rocks me. what abt u?

The birthday year

a continuation of "Happy B'day to..."

The Second year of my college started with a divide, me in IT and 'my fair lady' in her dept.

I was so sad & thought "Its all over & she lost interest in me" until i heard from a girl of her dept saying that she was speaking about my masterpiece poem in her class

"Why should she do that if she had no interest in me?", a nice question right? So I started to her class with my friends as if to see some other guy.

I slowly turned my eyes towards her while coming out of the class. To my surprise she smiled @ me. I thought there's something happened to her in the holidays, may be she might be dreaming of me (chumma oru guess thaanpa!) like i did , may be she might be reading my poem again & again and found my trueness in her.

I felt a joy that had no words to explain here, so we better skip that :) , after all it doesn't exist long, much long :(

On the day of her B'day, i called her out from the class and said "I heard from BBC news that today is your b'day, r u so special?". She laughed & got my small gift (a Rose microtip pencil). She was happy, we spoke a few words and departed

Everything is fine till here, right? But somehow later she started avoiding me totally. I want to ask her why? But when she stepped back in seeing me, i didn't go forward to speak. I restrained myself waiting for the day that she will realise me one day.

But as this is not a cinema, nothing better happened in my life and everything went bad for me in her :(

Now i am tasting the essence of her in my thoughts, at times.

Happy Birthday to 'my fair lady'

It all started when my Maths Lecturer (JJ) asked the girls to take the middle row of benches while the boys on either rows parallel to it, i didn't know i am gonna meet a girl who would fill my dreams, smiles & tears

It was the first year - second semester, Both the ends met.
She sat near me, a small gap filling the space between our benches (oh, Einstein's theory of relativity is just a gap away...). I felt an unwritten shyness whenever i turned left to see her. Slowly we started speaking, only a few words :)

We spoke a little on our family too. I exchanged my Electronics assignments for her Maths. Those were the days i would always love to remember

She spoke so naturally that when you hear her, u would never want to interrupt the silence of her speech. Unconsciously she began to fill my dreams.

She was interested in me, so as I. I like her appreciating my tamil poems on nature (she was a topper in +2 Tamil). I never used to write tamil poems on girls, even if i do, it would be only a teasing one.

I thought of writing a poem teasing her (with a concept of, her name hidden in it). I framed the entire poem in my heart and when wrote, as u can expect it didn't tease her instead turned into one of the masterpieces of my poems

On the day of showing this to her, I didn’t say its for her, instead I asked her to find a girl’s name in it. She searched the whole poem but didn’t get that.

You know what she said when I showed her name by placing my left hand vertically over the poem page leaving the first letters of each line grouped to reveal her name, “I had expected this” :)

That day afternoon, I asked her “Ennai pidichirukka?” a line that I borrowed from the famous song of Minnale at that time.

She replied immediately, “Yes, as a friend”… but the next day the gap between us increased, she sat in the last bench (mine is last but one @ the right) that too in the middle.

Slowly she started avoiding me and i thought "I should not have said that too early". She didn't speak much after that event and even if I speak she heared it with less interest

Then came the second sem exams and the holidays.

The last day of first year

And my entry into the corporate world marks his first anniversary at the dawn of the day.

Hip Hip Hoohrey! I have completed a successful year in TCS, a so called 'Government Company' in Indian S/W industry

Last year, i made my first train journey, from Pondicherry to Trivandrum to join TCS @ TechnoPark campus for Initial Learning Program (ILP)

TCS-ILP@TechnoPark

A lovely training period in TVM (that's how we call Trivandrum) taught me a lot that i have forgotten eventually :)

Well thats OK, the point is 'learning @ tvm' is one of the best in my life.
Then i got transferred to Hyderabad and if u want to know 'Why i didn't get Chennai?',
better browse my archives, i don't want to say here :(

If i didn't say a word abt Kasa Kiran, my First PL, i think this is the worst post i am publishing (i knowda, don't ask me which is the best post u have written)

He is so amiable and stuffed with kin. He removed the fear of the so called 'Corporate World' in me and taught me how to live every moment with joy in this world of Stress

The 'one year life' away from home made me to get worried at times but still went like a flash (not the one of Macromedia), gave me the oppurtunity to prove myself with Flash (this one is the Macromedia's) fortunately at the time of my appraisal

Still a long way to go in learning & exploring the world of 'Idiot Box'

Change Request

I had expected some web development work when i did Sports web, but not so quick.

When my Program Manager asked to develop a small Change control tracker for MS CRM warehouse divison, Why to miss the oppurtunity? i simply decided to implement, now in ASP.net

There was a cool coincidence in both the flash & web design that i would like to share with u. At one point of time, I was about to drop the thing but then I came back and done it with gr8 success, as far as i consider so :)

If u take the flash site, the organiser needed the sports web immediately on the next day and when i stuggled in doing a movie clip, he insisted me to do in html as if questioning me 'Is that all u r Flash skill?'.
In web design, there were no proper information given and when i designed the web template, they asked me to entirely reshuffle it. I was also not satisfied with the design at the initial stage and this time, i thought of myself 'Is that all u r web design skill?'

I was at the extreme frustration at both times

But still i love those 'come back' moments which brought out the confidence in me and helped me in completing the task with full personal satisfaction

I have one more important task owe to my first PL. Let me do it, atleast this time, without any 'Come Back' moment :)

And the King goes alone

Today i played my Quarter Finals

You know what is the first piece to go. Its the "Queen" (Mouly paathukko)
The queen was quietly standing next to the king and i dont why he was furious in knocking out the queen with his one

Then my king gave a blow to the other's queen. It all started like this.
Then one by one we exchanged our pieces - bishops, horses and some pawns

Atlast i was left with an elephant(ROOK)and few pawns and the Opponent with two elephants and many pawns

That made the difference. He tricked me to lose my last rook and therefore i was helpless

Now again he reclaimed the queen by moving his pawn to the end and made a checkmate with his queen with Rooks supporting it

I simply blown the queen and the Rook jumped at my King to end the game

Sports

That was a beautiful day and a beautiful cricket match I played on Saturday in Microsoft campus. The climate was so cool.

When i touched the Cricket bat, i just recollected my school days where i am rushing towards the ground on almost all weekends for playing cricket. Crying for batting when OUT on the first ball, to hitting fours & sixes and winning the game ..... all flashed in my mind.

Those were such golden days that i would always love to remember - Cricket

Now here see me in my full force on the Saturday match where we won the FINALS

VK@Cricket

Carroms is another game i love to play.

See my eyes in the pic, it ignores the opponent and sees only the board & the coins to improve the concentration. This was my first round

VK@Chess

But unfortunately a huge crowd gathered around me on the second round and i couldn't avoid the distraction. Ultimately i lost

Still in Chess i have moved to third round and i can see the King in me. Let me see what happens.

SIT

I am not asking you to sit. This refers to Services IT, a division of MS working on Customer Relations.

After about one and half years, i have touched FLASH to create a small web for the SIT sports week

It was a nice experience, i once again refreshed my skills and learnt many things too.
But it sucked my time, almost three days to prepare for it

I need a hitcounter without calling server scripts. When tried with XML, i can read it but cannot save the XML back with my updated count value.
I spent 4 hrs in researching it and atlast i found there is no other way except to go for ASP script

You know whats the lines of code that eaten my 4 hrs (the day i stayed till 11:30 pm in office), just 3 lines

Dont ask me, what about your project?

Jun 20, 2005

Where is my break time?

4 days went just like a 4 mins dream.
Anniyan, the first movie i have seen on the first day of release.

The Romain Roland Library missed my footprint but unfortunately the General Hospital had it(i was slightly allergic to medicine smell)

Nothing has changed in GH. Lots of poor crowd standing for treatment, some of them are lying on the floor. No proper sanitation, no enough space, very tightly packed queue to get free medicine served by just two nurses.

I dont know where the hell money allocated for the Government Hospitals went? why didnt the government interested in improving the standard of GH?
I heard that without proper recommendations its very difficult to get a patient cured with proper treatment.Pondicherry GH claims to be the best in class service to poor ones yet i could see only the worst there. Imagine the TN GH's ! Bingo ! what the hell the democracy did for the past 50+ years?

Something must be done...

Jun 15, 2005

Give time a break

Starting to home today,
gonna see my town after almost 3 months

The french beach, Romain Roland Library, Chinna Kadai are all waiting for my footprints
Just 24 hours left to breathe the salty air of my town

The dusty room and the computer of mine also eagerly cries for me to clean them

Oh! today's train journey is gonna to be a memorable one
Might be this is the first B'day for Muruga to celebrate in a train.
Lets also celebrate with him (Muruga, get ready with the Cake), Bang!!!!!

my bold lady

This lady is quite famous for taking bold steps that becomes the talk of India.

From reproaching Sonia Gandhi publicly to banning all the incentives to Tamil Nadu Government Employees, she made a daring move and faced the consequences too.

When government employees went on strike for some bla bla demands, She resigned all of them and immediately substituted with temp employees. (imagine if Karunaithi was in the CM post, he would have shaked his head up and down for those demands)

I am neither the supporter of Jayalalithaa nor Karunanithi.
I do accept that she is the one who swindled crores and crores of rupees in her last rule from 91-96. I think she has realised and changed now.

Latestly again she was in the hot seat for crashing all the entrance tests (TNPCEE) for Professional courses (like B.E, B.Arch, M.B.B.S etc.). She declared that only +2 marks are suffice for entering into Engg. Colleges.

I welcome come her move for
* A rural student earning good marks in +2 needs to prepare again for entrance. This needs money for him to buy those books and to go for entrance coaching
* The self financing colleges stand divided in conducting their own entrance tests on the same day making the students and their parents get into trouble.
* The middle and lower class family are exploited by fake entrance coaching centres in deciding their children's future

beg u r pardon

It was a cloudy evening after a drizzle. Myself, Mouly & Bala are heading our way towards the 'Secret Lake' by walk. A small girl from the slum came running on our way and begged politely by calling 'Uncle' with her hands raised.

I didnt listen her, for my aim is to reach the lake and go for boating. Also i consider that helping a begger encourages begging and doesnt really helps a poor.

Mouly took a coin out of his packet and gave her. She ran towards the slum and ourselves into the Lake garden. We had a good time in boating and were returning from the Lake garden.

Again the same girl came running but this time Mouly said NO. We walked a few steps and a small boy with one hand raised for begging and the other holding a diminutive stick & rolling a tyre sang the same words 'Uncle' to us.

I didnt mind the boy (again the same concept of helping a begger doesnt mean helping a poor flashed in me) and kept walking but Mouly gave him a two rupee coin and joined us.

Suddenly Mouly grabbed my shoulders back and pointed a small cart having sweets. The scene i saw there really made me to feel embarassed for not having helped the small boy. Yes, that boy was calling his small friends to share the sweets what he is buying for the money he got then.

The attitude of the poor boy to share whatever he gets questioned me that I have missed an oppurtunity to help a good soul. Now i feel that helping a begger by giving a coin is in anyway gonna useful to them. Though we can say it encourages begging, i think this is one way to help the poor and i am redefining my Principle.

I dont want to miss the chance of helping a good soul in the name of saying that helping a begger encourages begging and doesnt really helps a poor

So what is HOT abt Hyderabad?

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
When i came to Hyderabad in September (for first time), i loved the warm and cozy climate prevailed here. In December, the temp reached as low as 11 degree Centi making it feel like Ooty. In those days, when I looked at some houses with AC's attached I wondered why do they need it?

But today, I am in 'dead need' of an AC or atleast an air cooler. The heat waves are heating me like anything and whenever i step out of my office, i feel like i am in a burning furnace.

Oh God! why do these s/w companies keep their centres in Hot cities?

blogtograph - part 1

I still remember my father said me that i lost a LKG seat in Petit Seminaire Higher Secondary School, a 175 yrs old and well reputed school in Pondy, just bcoz i didnt say my name when the Principal asked me.

Then i joined a small school started by a simple person Lourdusamy who had a very big vision at that time. The school was started just two years before(in 1984) with upto 5th standard(i am not sure). The name of the school was 'Amalorpavam High School' at that time.

The strategy he followed was introducing one more standard each year while maintaining discipline in all standards.

From LKG to XII standard, almost 15 years, i studied in that school watching the growth of it. Those were so peaceful & beautiful school days. Now it is called 'Amalorpavam Higher Secondary School' - stands next to that Petit Seminaire in results and in reputation due to the hardwork of Lourdusamy.

I still didnt forget the wish we used to say when any teacher enters into the class room,
'Good morning Sir/Miss, God Bless You' till seventh std, which later changed to
'Good morning Sir/Miss, Praise the Lord'

And the prayer i murmured for almost 15 years in morning & evening sessions
'Oh God! our father, we adore you, we believe in you, we hope you and we love you.
Bless us, our parents, our teachers and ours, AMEN'

thanks to my sweet memories, Long Live Lourdusamy

New Look

'Contemporary yet Classic'

This is the caption of 'The Hindu' newspaper (125 yrs old India's National Daily) who changed the look recently.

Though the new style didnt attracted me as the classic one of the newspaper, its good to see the change. I think they might have thought this proverb 'Familiarity breeds Contempt'.

For its very much important for a newspaper company to have an attraction to sustain in the market, I welcome the move

Back here, so why should i have the same old look ?

Enjoy my new blog look

One more in Hyderabad

I got one more in hyderabad, guess what - project or friend?

The answer is both. I have got into a new project and my friend from Pondicherry Mr.Mouly has joined me here. He is going to stay here with me for atleast six months - for Oracle needs his service.

Our room strength is now added to 5 and we are planned to buy gas connection and to cook on our own. As i dont know any of the cooking practises, I hope Mouly would take a class on cooking very soon.(The assumption here is mouly knows cooking)

Waiting for the day to cook on my own....

I was "Printed Out"

So thats the end of my great second project. Tomorrow i am going to meet MATC (HR) in Deccan Park.

I didnt expect this sudden release from this project and i volunteered for it. I dont know what is my next project? But now i am ready to ask for transfer to 'singara Chennai'. Let us hope.

I have heard telugu more than tamil when iam in this project, learnt a little bit telugu here.
The team members here are best in their kindness and guidance -
a lot more about the team in my next blog as my freind Muruga is waiting in the bus stop.

Happy New Year

Apple

Have you ever heard about the "white skinned Apple?"
I have touched it, a half-cut apple with a flat panel protruding as a leaf of a true apple, Code named Tiger.

What? can you understand what am i talking about ?
Its the Mac Apple 10.x - simply nothing in it, amazingly everything it has.

My first day with Apple and one word for it -"Chanceless"

Da Vinci Code

A story that you wont forget so easily, starts in deducting a murder and the crypts left by the dead and slowly turns to find the truth about Holy Grail.

The explanation given for the Da Vinci's MonaLisa & Last Supper paintings are really incredible. I need to confirm it somehow.

Amazingly maintaining the suspence, the story ends with usual unexpected twists giving hope to be expected in Hollywood very soon.

My advise is start reading this novel with a dictionary by the side.

Why Printer?

I still remember.

It started from my College days. I was in full confidence for my 8085 microprocessor semester lab except for the Printer exercise.

Unfortunately, Print 1 to 100 and A to Z in ascending and descending order using Assembly Language was the problem given to me.

I tried my level best and when i was about to Print with partial output (there were only five more minutes) that incident happened. Yes, the wires connected to the Microprocessor Kit and the printer got earthed and all the code i have typed till then got erased.

Internal was checking outputs for the student next to me.
OVER Everything is over, "sure cup" - i thought

Results were out and i was surprised to see 40 in external, total 89.

Now again this time the project turns to be Printer Management. Lets see what is going to be earthed !

Take it easy

My BIG project turns to extend some more days till Jan 21. But this time the documentation work turns hectic. The Client wants to extract double the work from us as we are moving out shortly.

More Pressure - More Hectic - More lessons in Life.
