Oh my BIG love

Its all gonna over by this month. My first BIG project is on its deadline.
Targeted at insurance, I learnt a bit of domain and a bit of MS SQL tech.

What is so sad for me is leaving my PL cum friend. He is a Kin as well as an admirable person. He usually says , "Learn how to enjoy & be happy in Office for we are spending most of our life time here".

I know this will turn into sweet memories . Now the biggest question is, whats my next proj ?

Are U afraid of the Dark ?

I finished reading the Sidney Sheldon's latest thunder. To say frankly, this is my first English novel that i have read completely. The story is bit interesting with twists and great comedy like Prima, a weather control machine. But the way he handled and took the story is really good. ( like Mani ratnam's Yuva/Ayutha Ezhutthu ) parallelly running four scientist story working in Kingsley International Group, a Thinktank organisation. To my wonder, I took just 4 days to complete it casually.

I have started reading my second novel. It is a Sidney Sheldon's old novel "Master Of the Game". Let me see how long I will take to peruse it.

Reasons for not to mess with children.

A Kindergarten teacher: was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work

As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was.
The girl: replied, "I'm drawing God."

The teacher: paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like."
Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl: replied, "They will in a minute."

-------

The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray:
"Take only ONE. God is watching."

Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large! pile of chocolate chip cookies.

A child had written a note, "Take all you want. God is watching the apples.
-------

One day a little girl was sitting and watching her mother do the dishes at the kitchen sink. She suddenly noticed that her mother had several strands of white hair sticking out in contrast on her brunette head.

She looked at her mother and inquisitively asked, "Why are some of your hairs white, Mom?"
Her mother replied, "Well, every time that you do something wrong and make me cry or unhappy, one of my hairs turns white."

The little girl thought about this revelation for a while and then said, "Momma, how come ALL of grandma's hairs are white?"

Why men's life is simpler than women..

Her DIARY

I asked him what was wrong - he said, "Nothing." I asked him if it was
my fault that he was upset. He said it had nothing to do with me and not to
worry.

On the way home I told him that I loved him, he simply smiled and kept driving. I can't explain his behavior; I don't know why he didn't say, "I love you, too.

" When we got home I felt as if I ad lost him, as if he wanted nothing to do with me anymore.
He just sat there and watched TV.; he seemed distant and absent. Finally I decided to go to bed.

About 10 minutes later he came to bed. I decided that I could not take it anymore, so I decided to confront him with the situation but he had fallen asleep.

I started crying and cried until I too fell asleep. I don't know what to do.

I'm almost sure that his thoughts are with someone else and some new has entered his
life. My life is a disaster.

Life in Hyderabad

The Heavenly as well as the Hectic life , i am facing in Hyderabad.

First let me say about my heavenly life:
My workplace Deccan Park, my system with 24 hrs internet support & my friends here really make me feel home (ofcourse home is my heaven).
The best part of internet facility is that i can have contacts with my PEC & TVM friends.

Now the hectic life :
The travelling time and the road from Miyapur to Hitec city really makes me feel hectic and pathetic. The absence of shuttle court is also the other that makes me to feel so sad.

But then I still enjoy (or try to enjoy) whatever happens in my path of life.

VK steps into TCS Hyderabad

My ILP was over and I moved to TCS Hyderabad .On the first day(27/9/04,Monday) I was asked to report to MATC . They allocated me to BT project . Saravanan and Ashwini are my projectmates We were asked to meet Sriram . When we went there, the GL was surprised as if he was not informed about this allocation and said that he had no requirements.

The next day Sriram asked us to meet Smitha. She put us in a temp proj "Leave Mgmt System" using ASP.net (C# language) to brush up the skills. But no cabins were arranged for us. Today the same continues and we were asked to wait in the Library until the cabin being arranged and so i am surfing & blogging here.

I am now staying with Muruganandham & Saravanan.

This is my income status :
I got 13,304 as my first month Salary.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Basic : Rs. 9,000
Gross Income : Rs. 13,400

Deduction - PF: Rs. 1080 (Provident fund) - IT: Rs. 207 (Income Tax)
Take Home : Rs. 12,113

Journey Begins - Hyderabad Confirmed

The list of requirements we got from MATC

City Vacancies
-------------------
Chennai 20
B'lore 15
Hyderabad 5
Mumbai 38
Delhi 18
Kolkata 15

I had only three preferences to choose. I gave Chennai, Bangalore & Hyderabad .
My grade "good" played a role here to fetch the third option.
I found no problem in going to Hyderabad since Muruganandham (My college friend) is there for Infosys.

Regarding ILP:

We had "Good Programming Skills" session, It is a 3 day session . we r taught how to reduce bugs in the prog and how to use testing tools. It is a bit boring & sleepy. The concept of "eXtreme Programming"(XP, remember Jeyaraj,LecturerePEC) also taught. In our batch only 10 out of 35 knows JAVA.I am dominating here coz not that I know swings, applets, socket prog & a little JSP, J2EE but all others have only a little knowledge in it

The Six Thinking Hats

An interesting session on "Creativity Tool" was conducted today by Shiva of HR Department. The principle of the session is to organise your thinking power and thereby generate ideas in a structured way.

In simple "If you are given a apple and asked to cut into pieces, What will you do? " . You may say "What is there in it , I will take a knife and cut into proper pieces" . But if u r not given knife then u may break with u r hands or may stab it against wall to get into pieces.

Thats how the Six Thinking Hats differs from normal thinking. It is the tool (like knife) .
This is the first tool I learnt for thinking. What about You?

Here is the Concept of that
White Hat - gives information (What I know ? What i need to know?)
Yellow Hat - gives positive ideas
Black Hat - gives negative ideas
Red Hat - expresses the feelings
Green Hat - Solutions to Black & Enhancements to White Hat
Blue Hat- Organiser

Beautiful TCS (Trivandrum)

I admired by the efforts the TCS has taken in training the Executives. What they want is "An TCS Professional not only must be strong in Techs but also in their life skills". Thats pushed us to have training on Etiquette of Dressing, Dining etc.For me, TCS is really taking pains in training profs.

We joined TCS in the auspicious day of TCS, yes 29th July 2004 is the day of TCS IPO. So the TCS cared for us in making us eligible to buy TCS shares. The process is going on & i hope i will be an employee as well as shareholder.

The first TWO days of TCS Training was just Induction classes where
we learned how the different departments inside TCS,TVM(Trivandrum).
Some of them are
Library Induction
Admin Induction

I am assigned T27 batch.

The second day goes with formalities of Surety Verification & documents. Only enjoyable moment is the "Lifestyle induction class"
where we were asked to spell out the names of our batchmates along with their fav dish. That was funny .

The climate is mild and dizzles not so often.

TCS goes public & VK goes TCS

The most important feature of the 29th July is " It is the day of JRD Tata's Birthday, TCS goes public & myself joining TCS"

Really this is a big news for software industries in India & for the Stockmarkets of Mumbai(BSE).The crucial mark of 5000 Sensex can be crossed when TCS releases its share on July 29.

To say why TCS is an attractive buy look here
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

Mahatma's Quote

First they ignore you
Then they laugh at you
Then they fight you
Then you Win

Mahatma(Father of India) may have said this for different purpose. But the place where i saw this pushes me to add it here.

I saw this in "Linux For You" magazine pointing out the success and growth of Linux .

Can you guess who does "they" refers in the Quote ?

Beware of IE

It is interesting for me to hear that four new holes have been discovered in the Internet Explorer (IE) Web browser that could allow malicious hackers to run attack code on Windows systems, even if those systems have installed the latest software patches from Microsoft.
So I switched to OPERA 7.5

Although Microsoft uses the best brains to code programs, still it couldnt able to resist hackers.

Mr.Manoj (MVP) , a friend of mine said "The patches released by the Microsoft is also one of the primary cause for the hackers to trace the holes and introduce new virus and worms"
To know more check this link www.computerworld.com/securitytopics/security/

There is onething that follows Microsoft, it is HACKERS

Very helpful Indian site during emergency

This is something outside of technology info, but very useful and helpful for all INDIANS.

This site IndianBloodDonors is very useful and good, where we can search for a particular blood group and filter the any city and location around INDIA.

We never know when emergency will knock on our doors

The doubt that exists long

Somethings looks simple but realising the truth is harder than ever in general.
Though i am an IT Professional i have some simple doubts (like why there is waves in sea but not in river?). My doubt is

Basically how 32 bit processor or 64 bit processor differs ?
Similarly what is the difference of 16 bit window and 24 bit window ?

Is .Net a Microsoft version of Sun's J2EE

It looks that .net is a Microsoft version of Sun's J2EE
From copying JVM to CLR ,Microsoft is very fond of copying Sun's ideas in their brand names.
